Overview
Kalash Valley Tour from Pakistan reaches one of the oldest living cultures in the region, five days and four nights in the valleys of Chitral.
From our Charsadda base our team arranges transport through the Lowari Tunnel, hotels, and guided days in Bumburet, Rumbur, and Birir, where the Kalash people keep their own language, dress, and festivals among terraced fields and wooden houses. Timed to the Chilam Joshi festival in spring on request, a Kalash trip is a rare cultural journey for curious travelers from across Pakistan.
Local KPK expertise
The Kalash valleys sit beyond Chitral in the far northwest of KPK, reached by road from Peshawar through Dir and the Lowari Tunnel, so from our Charsadda base we are among the closest road operators to the gateway and pick up from Peshawar and Charsadda. Our desk runs them with local hosts and drivers who know the road and the valley tracks, times the trip to the Chilam Joshi festival, arranges respectful visits with the Kalash community, and knows the limited rooms in the valleys, real local knowledge from a KPK base rather than a booking passed to a distant handler.
Day by day

Day 1
Depart by road through Dir and the Lowari Tunnel into the Chitral valley, following the Chitral River to your hotel for the night.

Day 2
Drive into Bumburet, the largest of the Kalash valleys, and meet the Kalash people, their terraced fields, wooden houses, and shrines set among walnut and mulberry trees.

Day 3
Visit the smaller Rumbur and Birir valleys, the museum at Bumburet, and learn the Kalash way of life, one of the oldest living cultures in the region.

Day 4
Return to Chitral for the Chitral Fort and the Shahi Masjid, with a view of Tirich Mir, the highest peak of the Hindu Kush, on a clear day.

Day 5
Drive back through the Lowari Tunnel and Dir to Peshawar or Islamabad.
The flow above is the typical five day plan for the Kalash valleys. Our desk times the trip to the Chilam Joshi festival on request and adds a Chitral day.
What you will see

The largest and most visited of the three Kalash valleys, with terraced fields, wooden houses stacked on the slopes, and shrines among the trees. The base for meeting the Kalash community.

The two smaller Kalash valleys, Rumbur the quiet middle valley and Birir the most remote and traditional, where life carries on much as it has for centuries. A closer, calmer look at the Kalash people than the busier Bumburet.

A community of about four thousand people, the Kalasha keep an ancient polytheist faith, their own language, and a distinct dress of black robes and bright beaded headdresses, a living tradition on the UNESCO heritage list, with a legend tying them to the army of Alexander. The shrines and the festivals are unlike anywhere else in Pakistan.

The Kalash spring festival in May, days of music, dance, and colour in the valleys to welcome the new season. The most vivid time to visit, arranged when the dates are set.

The long road tunnel that links Dir to Chitral under the Lowari Pass, open through the year and the reason Chitral and the Kalash valleys are reachable by road in every season.

The main town of the district on the Chitral River, with the Chitral Fort and the Shahi Masjid, and a view of Tirich Mir, the highest peak of the Hindu Kush, on a clear day.

What sets the price
A Kalash Valley tour has no fixed sticker, since the season, the hotel, the excursions, and your departure city set each quote. Our desk reads them live for your dates and sends the current best price, with no hidden charges and no stale published number.
The Chilam Joshi festival in May sits highest as rooms fill fast, while the quieter summer weeks run lower for the same valleys.
A better hotel in Chitral or a valley guesthouse lifts the price, while a simple room holds it down. Rooms are limited in the Kalash valleys.
The long drive through the Lowari Tunnel and the valley jeeps set the transport cost, and a larger group shares it down.
A shared group departure carries the friendliest price, while a private family tour with your own vehicle and pace costs more.
